Ok, this one might be a bit lame in some people’s eyes, but yeah.. I’m posting this one anyways.
So, a long time back we were taught how to use VPN to connect from home computers to connect to library computers to read stuff… you know how those things go..
And for some reason, they insisted on using the cisco ones provided. I tried downloading the linux version of the client (not very legally) and tried to compile and connect.. after a few tries and testing some cisco compatible clients, I threw my hands up and walked to the library (damn, lazy geek )

So, now I needed to connect to the computers in the CS lab which are only accessible via VPN… So, here comes the actually useful stuff or else I’ll go for hours with my story ….

$ apt-get install vpnc

$ sudo vpnc
Enter IPSec gateway address: callahan.trincoll.edu [ The Server Address also called Host]
Enter IPSec ID for callahan.trincoll.edu: Everyone [ Group Id, this one threw me off the first time]
Enter IPSec secret for Everyone@callahan.trincoll.edu: [key for group]
Enter username for callahan.trincoll.edu: <username>
Enter password for pgautam@callahan.trincoll.edu:
<password>VPNC started in background (pid: 19069)…

Off you go…

Tell me if you have any problems with this one.
